Spare Wheel Storage: Thoughtful, Versatile Solutions

Unlike most utes, the Toyota 79 Series doesn’t house the spare wheel under the tray. This presents a challenge for owners who need a secure and accessible spare wheel solution. We offer three distinct spare wheel storage options:

1. Rear Canopy-Mounted Spare Wheel

If you're running a canopy, we provide a rear canopy spare wheel mount that bolts securely to the back of the canopy. However, this option is not compatible with our toolboxes or service body with a rear door.

2. Headboard-Mounted Spare Wheel

For those without a canopy, service body, or toolbox setup, we offer a headboard-mounted spare wheel bracket that positions the wheel upright against the headboard. While this option encroaches on tray space, it ensures easy access.

3. Under-Tray Spare Wheel Chute

Our under-tray spare wheel chute provides a sleek storage solution, replacing the rear trundle drawer. Due to the chassis clearance, this option is limited to a narrow wheel, specifically the 79 Series LT model space saver (7 inches or 225mm wide on a steel rim). This spare is 33 inches in diameter, which aligns with what many 79 Series owners run. However, if your primary tyres differ in size, the spare must be mounted on the front axle, and 4WD must not be engaged under any circumstances, as it can cause severe drivetrain damage.

Guard Options: Standard & Modified Track Width

The Toyota Landcruiser 79 Series has a different front-to-rear track width, making guards an essential consideration. We offer:

RUISER, built for Hashtag.Dan, is a fully kitted-out 79 Series designed for adventure and work. Outfitted with an M2 Overland Trek-R Tray & Canopy System, it’s built for quick setup, smart storage, and rugged use.

With Hunt-R internal roof storage, a double-opening full-width drawer, undermount slide-out benches, and a lifting gantry with a wireless winch, RUISER is set up to handle heavy loads with ease.
